The more time you spend at your computer, you might start experiencing a dull ache in the wrist, and maybe a tingling sensation in the fingertips. At some point that dull ache can morph into a sharp pain on the underside of your wrist. A lot of this has to do with your hands being in awkward positions for extended periods of time. In other words, typing 60 words per minute and clicking your mouse for hours at a time are not motions for which the human body is well designed.
Thankfully this is generally recognized and there are a number of
ergonomic options available. Ergonomic keyboards split the keyboard in half, slightly shifting each half to line up with each hand with less twisting of the wrist. For
mouse pads, the solution can be as easy as lifting your wrist a little bit off the desk relaxing the bend required to hold and operate a mouse.
Allsop uses Memory Foam for this purpose. They’re kind of like those TempurPedic mattresses you see on TV. It conforms to your wrist, relieving pressure points and improving blood circulation.
