It all started with a pair of ski boots
We’ve been creating consumer products since 1965. That’s when our founder, Ivor “Buss” Allsop invented the Ski-Boot-In, an easier way to carry a pair of uncooperative ski boots. We’ve been pushing the envelope and striving toward the concept of “patented ingenuity” ever since.
In the 1970’s, two of Ivor’s sons, Mike and Jim, led the family business into consumer electronics with the introduction of the mechanized audio cassette deck cleaner, as well as the development and subsequent introduction of the first VCR cleaner. In the 80’s, we went global, establishing Allsop Europe in Waterford, Ireland.
We’re a 50+ year old family business and so much more.
We connect the points between professionalism, innovation, and amazing people. Over the last decade, we’ve grown around the next generation of Allsop family members. Although Mike recently retired, Jim remains in the business as CEO and Co-President. He’s passionate about invention and solving the problems consumers may face across all our brands. He can often be found cruising the halls with a new gadget in tow. Mike’s son, Ryan, drives the day-to-day efforts in the multi-branded technology division, and oversees Softride, our bike rack and towing company. Jim’s daughter, Jamey, heads up the Home and Garden division, focusing on her passion for the latest solar lighting styles and technology, and gardening products. Mike’s older son, Brett, led the technology division up until his sudden death. He is sorely missed, but will always be remembered as an incredible entrepreneur, family member and friend to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Our latest chapter of growth includes the acquisition of Digital Innovations in September 2015. As an industry leader, DI created a successful line of consumer electronics maintenance products and a broad range of quality computer and technology peripherals. This new addition to our Family of Brands has us excited, as DI shares our spirit of innovation and our goal of delivering unique, value-added products to our customers.
Our products are great. Our people are even better.
Over the past several decades, we’ve been blessed with hundreds, if not thousands, of the most interesting, creative, thoughtful, and inspiring teammates all over the world. We could not have survived and prospered without the artists, designers, accountants, office managers, marketing geniuses, engineers, salespeople, and other amazingly talented team members who comprise Allsop. We strongly believe that being a family business without private equity or Wall Street involvement allows us to connect and foster a culture of genuine ingenuity. Whether you meet our teams on the road, or in our permanent locations of Washington State, Wyoming, and Ireland, you will find our people to be the kind of people you’ll want to call family.
